Hold the pencil in your non-dominant hand, and the knife in your dominant hand. Point the tip of the blending stump away from you, and cut away the outer layers of the stump. The Kapro 275 Carpenter Pencil Sharpener has a built-in emery board for fine sharpening. You don’t want to push the pencil in so little that the sharpener doesn’t notice the pencil, but pushing too hard is not good for any sharpener. Using your non-dominant hand, hold the pencil properly with the writing tip directed away from you. Sharpen the edge with a coarse whetstone. All you have to do is carefully hold the scissors in your dominant hand. Now it’s time to sharpen the pencil.
